Today's traditional media is increasingly integrated with social media like Facebook and Twitter. As a result, the legacy media must adapt to new trends in the digital world, such as Donald Trump’s bypassing of the traditional media with what many journalists have deemed a compulsive, offensive, and emotional use of Twitter. In an article published in the magazine Diplomatie, Mélanie Millette, 2011 scholar and professor of social and public communication at the Université du Québec à Montréal, reflects more fully on the digital communications of the first "tweet-president."
