Join the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation in Montréal, Quebec, on 15-17 November 2017 to explore trends that challenge our views on democracy, community, and security, and to meet innovative leaders who are shaping the future. Topics include:

- The reinvention of Montréal;
- The Indigenous future imaginary;
- Youth and conflict in the 21st century;
- Journalism, data and democracy;
- The emergence of extremism in Canada.

Essential Ideas is the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation’s 14th annual forum around ideas and research on some of the most pressing issues of our time. Plenary sessions and small group discussions will maximize interactions and learning among informed citizens, decision makers, thinkers, and practitioners. The 2017 forum will feature thinkers supported by the Foundation and external experts.

Essential Ideas aspires to be eco-friendly. That is why it is maximizing the use of local suppliers, reducing the generation of residual materials, minimizing food waste, promoting the use of sustainable modes of transport, and encouraging participants to offset their greenhouse gas emissions.
