Scholarship competition

Nominate a candidate for the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Scholarship

This section is for university awards officers. Only university officials can submit applications on behalf of their students (e.g. university awards officers).

Application and nomination portal

  1. When the competition opens, complete your registration request form. This provides you with access to all the applications from your university.
  2. You will receive your username and password within 4 business days (check your spam folder).
  3. If you participated in the online submission process last year, your information remains unchanged. If you have lost your password, please visit the home page of the portal.
  4. Once you log in, go to the “À réviser / To review” section of the portal to review the applications from your university. After reviewing the application, select one of the following options for each one: ‘Oui / Yes’, if you want to submit this application to the Foundation; ‘Non / No’ if your university is not nominating the candidate; or ‘Retour / Return’ if the candidate should add/modify information in the application.
  5. From all the internal applications submitted online by your students, you may select up to four (4) that best represent your institution's excellence, based on the Foundation's evaluation criteria. Please note that in its scholarship selection process, the Foundation will strive for a strong representation of all forms of diversity, including but not limited to gender, ethnicity, language, region, and discipline. The Foundation welcomes applications from First Nations, Métis, and Inuit candidates. In the case of foreign universities, up to three (3) candidates can be nominated.
  6. Once you have selected the candidates, upload the letter of nomination from your university, signed by a high-ranking official of the institution (President, Vice-president, Dean of graduate studies, etc.,) along with each file.
  7. Inform your university's candidates of your decision.
  8. Submit your completed files via the Foundation's web portal by 22 February 2019 at 11:59 p.m. PST.
  9. The Foundation will only send an acknowledgement to those candidates whose file is submitted by a university.

The Privacy Act allows candidates to access, upon request and with the referee’s agreement, personal information about themselves in letters of reference.
